*”Early theories suggested Larimar was produced by the Sea, later by the earth’s volcanic movements. … The stone is formed when hot gases push crystallized minerals up though volcanic ‘tubes’. In order to mine and excavate the stone miners must identify these tubes and dig deeper and deeper into old volcanoes.”
*Larimar stones were named after the ocean and the daughter of the man( Miguel Mendez) who rediscovered it, Larissa and Mar which means sea in many languages.
*Larimar is a form of pectolite. But it is the only specific form of this crystalline.
*It was rediscovered in 1974. It was originally discovered in 1916. Father Miguel Domingo Fuertes Loren asked permission to mine the blue stone he had found, but his request was denied and no one else knew of it until it’s rediscovery.
*Larimar stones are only found in the Caribbean sea in the Dominican republic on the island of Hispaniola.
