Hello, my name is Charles and I’m here to preview Disney’s Epic Mickey: Rebrushed for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and the Nintendo Switch.
This game is a remastered version of the original Epic Mickey for the Nintendo Wii.
The game takes place in a special world created by Yen Sid (Fantasia’s the Sorcerer’s Apprentice) for long-forgotten toons which is called WasteLand.
Wasteland features several landmarks/areas based on actual Disney-themed locations. These areas are:
Dark Beauty Castle (based on Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle),
Mean Street (based on Disneyland’s Main Street, USA),
OsTown (based on Disney’s Toontown),
Lonesome Manor (based on Disney’s The Haunted Mansion),
Bog Easy (based on New Orleans Square and features elements from Pirates of the Caribbean),
Gremlin Village (based on Disneyland’s It’s a Small World and features elements from Alice in Wonderland’s The Mad Tea Party and Dumbo the Flying Elephant),
Ventureland (based on Disneyland’s Adventureland and features element from Pirates of the Caribbean/Peter Pan/The Enchanted Tiki Room/Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse),
Tomorrow City (based on Disneyland’s Tomorrowland),
Mickeyjunk Mountain (based on Matterhorn Bobsleds and various Mickey Mouse merchandisings).
In this game, you travel through some old-time Mickey Mouse cartoon settings and they are:
Steamboat Willie,
Lonesome Ghosts,
Mickey & the Beanstalk,
Thru the Mirror,
Ye Olden Days,
Mickey’s Steam-Roller,
The Whalers,
Mickey’s Mechanical Man,
The Haunted House,
The Castaway,
The Mad Doctor,
Alpine Climbers,
Plutopia,
Clock Cleaners,
Jungle Rhythm,
Shanghaied.
In this game, you travel through some of Disney’s animated films and they are:
Sleeping Beauty,
Fantasia (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice).
In this game, you also travel through some of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit’s cartoon settings and they are:
Trolley Troubles,
Great Guns,
Oh, What a Knight.
In this game, you play as Mickey Mouse as he uses Yen Sid’s magic paintbrush to save and restore WasteLand as well as to thwart the Mad Doctor and Vanquish the Phantom Blot.
As Mickey, you use the magic paintbrush to utilize either Paint (color: Blue) to repair/restore or Thinner (color: Green) to destroy/erase.
While in WasteLand, Mickey meets animatronic versions of Donald, Goofy and Daisy, as well as Clarabelle Cow, Horse Horsecollar and various incarnations of Pete.
He also meets Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (Mickey’s Disney predecessor), Ortensia (Minnie’s Disney Predecessor) as well as a majority of Helpful Gremlins.
In conclusion, I found this game to be a true celebration of Disney’s Greatest Mickey Mouse Cartoons ever created. This game is scheduled to be released on Monday, September 23, 2024.
